Leaders get paid to make decisions.
That's what they used to say. The problem is that in the today's world, it's rare that decisions are simple and straightforward enough that they can successfully be made by one person working on their own - "the glorious leader"
Whether it involves creating vision, developing strategy, setting goals, prioritizing projects, or making team hires, an effective team is one that is able to pool the team knowledge, and use balanced decision-making. A high-performing team will almost always make better decisions than any single team member, even the leader, working on their own.
Today, it is Leadership Teams that get paid to make decisions.
And that is why Leadership is a Team Sport.
